Construction of a factory road and factory bridge over the Alfenz river
/ News / Press Release
On behalf of Alfenzwerke Elektrizitätserzeugung GmbH, which is part of the Zech Group, we are constructing a new factory road with an associated factory bridge.
The main structure, the ‘Werksbrücke’ bridge, crosses the Alfenz river at river kilometre 3.57. To support the bridge, the existing piers of an old weir dating from 1958 were cleaned, reinforced and concreted. The new bridge structure has a total length of 32 metres and is designed as a clamped two-span girder. The structure is 60 centimetres thick and is concreted with high-performance concrete.
A new fish ladder was built below the bridge in the bed of the Alfenz. This fish ladder improves the passability and thus the ecological condition of the Alfenz.
A new ramp was built to provide access to the bridge, which is secured on the stream side with a layer of river stones. In addition, an existing forest path was cleared of vegetation, excavated and repaved. The path construction covers a total length of 1.3 kilometres.
